Zhang Xiaohong's artwork is cool and vibrant, based on realism, and cathartic

through nature's lush landscapes. That's why her exhibition is coming at the end

of August, when the heat is at its peak. 

Zhang Xiaohong's paintings combine elements of reality with conceptualism

to present a unique style of painting that depicts reality in an unrealistic way. She uses strategies such as subjectivization of color and compression of

images to create a flat and abstracted effect. Her visual image world is filled

with beautiful memories of the past youth, as well as serious thoughts and 

passionate expressions about the changing social reality.

 

She said, "The core theme of the series of works I have created in the past
two years is joy and love. They capture not only the great love and brotherhood of
human beings, but also the joy of friendship, love and affection, and the love of
oneself and the joy we feel when we are alone. Before that, most of my works
explored the realm of solitude, such as the 'Hermit' and 'Invisible Man' series,
mainly expressing people's hidden life or hidden emotions. My current work,
which is completely different from before, seems to be a departure from the
loneliness of the past, and I face life with a more optimistic and positive attitude.
In the new images, I am no longer filled with a sense of loneliness and isolation,
and I have found my own happiness by paying more attention to the exploration
of bright emotions."

Zhang Xiaohong
1968 b. Hebei Province。
Graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Fine Arts Department of
Hebei Normal Zhang Xiaohong was Born in Baoding Hebei Province,
graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Fine Arts Department of
Hebei Normal University in 1991.
Teaches at Hebei Arts and Crafts Vocational College as a professor.
She is an associate researcher of Hebei Fine Arts Research Institute and a member
of Hebei Artists Association, China Cultural Management Association,
China-Italy Art Exchange Association, Hebei Women Painters Association.
Now lives and works in Songzhuang Art District in Beijing.
