Overview

Lee Dongsu diligently endeavors to apprehend the intrinsic temporality veiled

within objects and skillfully manifests it visually. Within his artworks,

one can discern an unmistakable "prehistoric ambiance," a phenomenon

not left to chance. This occurrence arises from the fact that ninety percent of his

compositions are underpinned by the dominating influence of the background color,

specifically a "mysterious black" that represents the color of the universe

in the artist's eyes. It carries the profound and timeless passage of years,

evoking a sense of awe when standing in front of his paintings.

Lee Dong-soo's work presents a "bowl" on the surface, but it is not just a superficial
depiction of a bowl, but rather a sleeping appearance in the darkness. The part that
is surrounded by darkness and invisible seems so far away. Maybe that is just the be
ginning of darkness, and behind it is a seed of darkness, or maybe that is in the abys
s of the beginning of life. The presence of what was just a bowl suddenly contained
a fleeting light, quietly flowing with a rhythmic, steady breath.
