PARALLEL UNIVERSES: Wei Yangyang Solo Exhibition
Past exhibition
Overview
There are no two moons in this world, unless you have a pair of beautiful eyes, it is impossible to see two moons at the same time in the human world. Or, only when an artist puts two moons on the canvas, you have the chance to see the extraordinary "double moon". In her paintings, there are not only double moon, but also the sun and other planets, the flowers on horseback, the trees and birds over the book, and even the scenery in this world and the landscape in the world beyond...These juxtaposition of pairs, wonderful illusions, all come from the art creations of female artist Wei Yang Yang.
As an oil painting, the color sense of Yangyang’s painting is different from that of general oil painting or traditional ink painting. The artworks in this exhibition allow us to see an artist concentrating on painting. The color she applies reflects the delicacy and talent of a female artist. At the same time, she uses the unique Chinese colors of turquoise, dark blue/brown , and pink, with the texture of oil painting. It is transparent and pure with the texture of oil painting, and even has the concept of a monochrome painting. Layers of over-dyed paintings express the warmth of Chinese colors, like jade with a transparent grace. In Covid-19 era, perhaps this kind of dedicated immersion can make us feel the inner joy of painting.Oily versus water-based, classical versus contemporary, landscape versus universe, splendid versus plain, two-dimensional versus three-dimensional, horizontal versus vertical, monochrome versus jade, this is the poetic composition of Yangyang’s paintings: Let people see the impossible astronomical phenomenon in the world. They are two parallel world with the same charm, lasting and eternal spectacular!
